Ears to the Skies Episode Two

We have a pretty meaty lineup for this week’s episode of Ears to the Skies, which includes reviews of new albums from The Sword, The Courteeners, The Kooks and the only person without a fashionable ‘The’ in front of his name, Frank Turner.

We also have another look back at a classic album from years gone by with our gentleman friend Jacob Williams, whose soothing voice will send you into a comatose state.

We’re also introducing a new personality onto the show – Romanian gypsy lover Paul Banica, whose section ‘Paul’s Antisocial Music Section’ will be guaranteed to wake you up from aforementioned coma.

This week’s Mass Debate has us looking at the issue of musicians behaviour – are they setting a bad example to younger audiences, and should they learn how to behave? Or are they entitled to a bit of leeway given the amount of pressure they come under?

We also have an interview with This Will Destroy You, taken just after they performed in support of Devil Sold His Soul, and lulled the crowd into a dreamworld of sweeping, melodic compositions from their new self titled.

Ears to the Skies Episode One

We’re proud to present the first episode of Ears to the Skies. In this week’s show, we have four album reviews, and a special feature from our friend Jacob Williams, who takes a look at a classic album from years gone by.

Unfortunately, because we want you to hear this as soon as possible we have yet to sort out web hosting, so for the time being the first episode is available to download here. We appreciate this is not ideal, but we are working to fix this as within the very near future.

This week’s mass debate focuses around the music festival, asking whether there are too many, whether they are too expensive and whether the quality of music festivals is gradually sinking to a weekend of debauchery you wouldn’t be too hard pressed to find in a lawless world.

Finally, we sat down with burgeoning punk folk artist Frank Turner, who spoke to us about his new album ‘Love, Ire and Song’, his previous band ‘Million Dead’ and the trials and tribulations of being a solo artist on tour.

Hi there,

Ears to the Skies is a new weekly show dedicated to providing the listener with a fresh take on the music world, as opposed to the stale and biased journalism that has become the standard in the United Kingdom.

The show is completely independently produced, so you can expect honest opinions on new music releases, and issues within the music industry.

Both hosts are passionate music listeners, almost to the point of geekery, and are always searching for new bands and artists to sink their earbuds into.

Michael Copus enjoys music from all walks of life, from bone crushing metal such as Pig Destroyer and ISIS to the lighter side of the spectrum such as Godspeed You! Black Emperor and a guilty pleasure for electronic music, most notably Amon Tobin.

Lee Smart is a self confessed indie lover, with an unhealthy obsession with The Enemy (he owns almost every item of memorabilia the band have released). He also enjoys other treats such as Hard Fi, Arctic Monkeys and Biffy Clyro. Unfortunately, there was a time when Lee had affections for rap artists such as 50 Cent, and suspicions are that he still secretly enjoys a bit of gangsta rhyme.
